The Ampersand (&) Difference

CS& (Common Course Numbering): In Washington, some courses have the same number across all community and technical colleges. These are 鈥渃ommon courses.鈥� If a course from a different college has the same number and subject as Highline鈥檚, and an ampersand (&), then they鈥檙e considered the same course. They are designed to transfer seamlessly between these schools. Examples at 蘑菇视频 include CS& 131 - Computer Science I C++ and CS& 141 - Computer Science I Java.
CIS (Highline-Specific): Courses without the ampersand are unique to Highline College. While they still transfer to four-year universities (often under a Direct Transfer Agreement), they don't have a pre-matched course at every other community or technical college. Examples include CIS 111 - Introduction to 3D Graphics & Animation and CIS 114 - 3D Technologies I.
